First
I have to comment on how Liam O Comain in his British
Anti-Insurgency article is 99% wrong. Look to
23 year old Ryan O'Donnell's letter "Bless
You". It sums us Irish Americans' view on
a free united Ireland. There are no right wing Irish
Americans who support a divided Ireland. They are
fiction, or, Liam lives in a world of fantasy.
Relating
to the above, Tom
Luby condemns Gerry Adams to failure using among
others, to give him veracity, Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton
is out of office, only because American Presidents
are limited to 2 terms. He would win an American election
anytime. Gerry Adams is more like Bill Clinton. Bill
Clinton is Irish American, Protestant, Catholic school
educated, favors a United Ireland based on American
rights and the separation of Church and state.
Kathleen
O Halloran is typical of Tom Luby believers. Most
people will help the unfortunate. When your friends
get more than you, however, human nature like jealousy,
covetness (of ten commandment fame), envy comes into
play.
Why
condemn Adams and McGuiness for staying at good hotels
and having decent living conditions. Successful Irish
Americans have footed the bills for Irish Nationalist
visitors and made their reservations for them. Mr
Adams is also a successful book writer and enjoys
royalties from them. Since when was taking care of
your family and moving to better conditions wrong?
Ms
O Halloran decribes herself as a Belfast Granny and
quotes the inductive writing of Tom Luby. My Eeskee
Sligo granny described the English as no good. Translate
that to the mean the British Government and that's
probably a more accurate Granny attitude in Ireland.
Call
organizations what you will. The names changes, the
game is the same. A rose by any other name is still
a rose. There will always be Irish freedom fighters
when and if they are needed. What they call themselves
is unimportant. How well they fight is.
We
Irish are not noted for sticking together in less
than a major crisis. Why should a united effort be
the best course supporting Sinn Fein? Anthony McIntyre
summed it up in his
article "Sinn Fein are not known for abandoning
core principles & beliefs". The Blanket's
own motto by one of Irelands greatest heroes: "You
can't put a rope around the neck of an idea",
says it all. The IDEA is a free and United Ireland
for one and all. Stick together or hang alone.
