The Blanket - A Journal of Protest & Dissent
We Haven't Gone Away, You Know

"Freedom of the press is limited to those who own one."
- A.J. Liebling

September 1, 2003

Thanks to the generosity of our readers, the Blanket is now back online full time.

We would like to thank our readers, who in their generosity enabled us to replace the computer confiscated by the PSNI during the July 4th raid on the McIntyre home. Special thanks go to Davy Carlin and the SWP, John McDonagh and Sandy Boyer, Radio Free Eireann, Deirdre Fennessy and the Irish Freedom Committee, and Dorothy Robinson, Clan na Gael, for coordinating donations, and the kind individuals who gave in support of freedom of speech. Thanks also to British Irish Rights Watch and the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) for their support. In addition we would like to thank the many friends who offered their moral support, in particular Kevin McQuillan for enabling the Blanket to publish during the down-time, and those journalists and human rights activists who made sure the case was highlighted. We are truly grateful to all.

Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into flame by another human being. Each of us owes deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this light. - Albert Schweitzer

The Blanket - A Journal of Protest & Dissent

All censorships exist to prevent any one from challenging current conceptions and existing institutions. All progress is initiated by challenging current conceptions, and executed by supplanting existing institutions. Consequently the first condition of progress is the removal of censorships.
- George Bernard Shaw
